I originally started with Elta MD's UV Elements and loved the tint.. perfect for those no makeup makeup days! Sadly, They changed the tint for the Restore! It is much warmer, and it does not look as natural for my skin tone. The Ginger extract, while I'm sure he does wonders for your skin, gives a burning sensation when you first apply. I have noticed that after a week or so, the burning upon application is less, but I can see how that would be an issue for some people.
Like most of the EltaMD tinted sunscreens I've tried, the finish of this product was wonderful- moisturizing, not greasy, just smooth and dewy. Unfortunately, the tint was way too dark on me and made me look like I'd gotten a bad spray tan just to my face. EltaMD should come out with a range of tints for different skin tones because their tints are consistently too dark and too orange for most fair-skinned people. I also think that the ginger extract they use in this formulation is a little spicy because I got some tingling around my mouth when I first applied this. You can also smell the ginger in the product, which isn't a good sign for me. The tingling went away, but I was surprised that EltaMD would include a fragrant ginger extract in their products since their products are usually free of added fragrance.
